Both the Drogheda Wolves U14 Boys Arctic and U18 Girls Arctic teams enjoyed thrilling wins in two extremely close matches over the weekend.
The boys played really well in their match against Dynamites Dundalk in what proved to be a seesaw battle which was only settled in the last few seconds
Ultimately it was Jan Yuel Erasmo’s off-balanced layup which proved decisive in a nail-biting finish, but this was a real team effort, especially on the defensive end.
The result makes it two wins on the bounce after two narrow defeats to start the season.
Dynamites Dundalk also provided the opposition for the U18 Girls and they ran out 55-52 winners away from home on Sunday in what was their fourth league match of the campaign.
Wolves got off to a quick start, netting two consecutive baskets in the opening minutes, but it was the Dynamites who led by six points at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was evenly matched, with Lisa Nulty and Zara Duddy putting in exceptional morale boosting performances for the away side.
Hannah Wogan added two much-needed baskets from the baseline, and with some notable rebounds from Clodagh Harney the game turned in favour of Wolves.
The final quarter saw Wolves come into their own, with Nulty, Duddy, Richardson and Pascualena all adding to the scoresheet to clinch that three-point victory.
